I am so excited to watch this Gundam Movie Trailer

If you’ve been following our updates on The Hangar, you know we’ve been living and breathing the Universal Century lately. But the wait is finally almost over. After what felt like an eternity since the first film dropped on Netflix, the next chapter—Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe—is officially hitting U.S. theaters on May 15, 2026.
This isn't just another sequel; it feels like the moment the "UC Next 0100" project truly finds its stride. Here is why the hype for Sorcery of Nymph Circe is hitting a fever pitch.
1. The "Cinematic Experience" We Missed
Let’s be real: as much as we loved the convenience of streaming the first film, Hathaway was built for the biggest screen possible. Director Shūkō Murase’s obsession with lighting and atmosphere—especially those gorgeous, high-contrast night battles—deserves the theater treatment.
The fact that we’re getting a full North American theatrical run this time means we finally get to hear Hiroyuki Sawano’s god-tier score through a professional sound system. And with an opening theme like Guns N' Roses' "Sweet Child O' Mine" and SZA on the ending track, the audio-visual scale of this movie is going to be unlike anything we’ve seen in Gundam history.
2. Fresh Designs: The Alyzeus and the Re-GZ Custom
For the builders and tech-heads in our community, the "Technical Database" is about to get a massive update. We’re finally seeing the animated debut of some incredible suits:
The Alyzeus: The Penelope’s sibling unit is finally taking flight.
RGZ-91B Re-GZ Custom: A brief but legendary cameo that bridges the gap to Char’s Counterattack.
The Xi’s "Real Face": Word from the Japanese release is that we’re getting a look at the Xi Gundam’s true face after a beam saber strike—a design that leans into the Hajime Katoki and G-Generation aesthetics we love.
3. The Return of Bright Noa
The emotional core of this film is the "Son of Bright" (the movie's original working title). Seeing Hathaway grapple with his father’s legacy while leading a rebellion against the very Federation his father served is the kind of moral complexity that makes the Universal Century so enduring. Plus, hearing Ken Narita step into the role of Bright Noa to face his son is going to be a heavy moment for long-time fans.
4. A New Standard for Animation
The reports coming out of Japan are calling this the most dramatic and visually stunning entry in the franchise. Murase hasn't just made an anime; he’s made a high-stakes political thriller that happens to feature 20-meter-tall tactical monstrosities. The focus on civilian perspectives and the "Man Hunting" policy adds a layer of grit that makes the stakes feel incredibly personal.
Final Thoughts
Between the new Alpha Industries x STRICT-G gear we’ve been reviewing and the constant lore deep-dives, it feels like the perfect time to be a Hathaway fan. This movie looks to be a masterclass in how to evolve a 40-year-old franchise into something that feels modern, dangerous, and undeniably cool.
See you at the premiere on May 15.
