Hiroyuki Sawano Musical Score is so Impressive I love it.

Hiroyuki Sawano is basically the "final boss" of modern anime composers, and what he did with Hathaway is next-level. While he’s famous for his bombastic, "epic" style in Gundam Unicorn or Attack on Titan, the Hathaway score shows a much more mature, atmospheric side of his work.
Here’s why that soundtrack is such a standout for The Hangar community:
1. The "Futuristic Noir" Vibe
Sawano intentionally moved away from traditional "heroic" orchestral swells. Instead, he leaned into synths, deep bass, and rhythmic percussion to match the film’s grounded, gritty tone. Tracks like "TRACER" and "MANhUNTer" perfectly capture that sense of urban tension during the Davao night raids.
2. The "XI" Theme
This is arguably one of the best character themes in the entire franchise. It starts with a haunting organ—giving it that "Interstellar" feel—before exploding into a complex, high-energy arrangement. It perfectly mirrors the Xi Gundam itself: a massive, terrifying machine that feels almost like a mythological god when it takes flight.
3. "EARth" and the Sense of Scale
If you want to feel the sheer beauty and tragedy of the Universal Century, listen to "EARth." It’s a sweeping, emotional piece that plays during the re-entry scene. It reminds you that despite all the political violence and giant robots, the Earth is still the fragile, beautiful prize everyone is fighting over.
4. Looking Ahead: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe
With the sequel arriving on May 15, 2026, Sawano is back with even more experimental tracks. The new Concept EP "LOSTandFOUND" (released in February 2026) features SennaRin and a new version of "Beyond the Time"—the classic theme from Char's Counterattack. It’s a perfect bridge between the old legacy and the new era.
The "Sawano Checklist" for your Playlist:
"XI": For when you're focusing on technical specs or building Gunpla.
"Möbius": The definitive "Hathaway" opening vibe.
"Tracer": For that high-tension, tactical atmosphere.
"Snooze" (SZA): The unexpected but vibe-heavy opening for the new movie.
